Dr. Tara Perry
A Lifetime of Learning
Dr. Perry knows how important sleep is to a patient’s physical, emotional and mental health, and she is passionate about helping patients get a good night’s sleep. She enjoys educating and treating patients through dental sleep medicine to improve patient’s overall health. Dr. Perry is committed to learning and implementing the latest techniques and technologies to benefit her adults and adolescent patients. Each year, she strives to complete twice the number of continuing education hours as is mandated by Georgia State Board. Dr. Perry believes by continuously educating herself, she can provide patients the top level of care.
Dr. Perry is double board certified as a Diplomate with the American Board of Craniofacial Dental Sleep Medicine and a Diplomate of the American Sleep and Breathing Academy. She was the first dentist to become a Myofunctional Therapist in the state of Georgia.
Caring for Young Breathers
Dr. Perry practiced dentistry for 8 years before expanding into pediatric dental sleep apnea. It was her search for a solution for her own son’s breathing issues that led her to the field of sleep medicine. She practices a holistic and proactive approach to sleep apnea in children. She is able to combine her myofunctional therapy skills with orthodontic solutions to improve young patient’s dental, sleep, and airway health. Dr. Perry helps guide the development of young patient’s face and airway in a healthy direction to address breathing issues.
Education
Dr. Perry attended Georgia Tech to earn a degree in Industrial Engineering. She spent several years working as an engineering and realized she had a passion for medicine and caring for others. Dr. Perry returned to her academics to obtain a dental degree from the Medical College of Georgia. She completed dental residency at the University of Louisville in Kentucky. In 2001, she completed dental residency at the University of Louisville in Kentucky.
Family Life
Dr. Perry was born overseas in Italy and lived in several European cities due to her father’s career in the Navy. Both of her parents are originally from Georgia and her family settled back here after their world travels. She lives in Gainesville with her teenage son, dog Zeus, and two crazy cats Jinx and Lynx.
When Dr. Perry is not learning or practicing dental sleep medicine, she enjoys spending time with her son outdoors biking, roller blading, water skiing and snow skiing. Her guilty pleasure is watching British murder mystery shows, Georgia Tech football, and traveling shows. Dr. Perry is a recent breast cancer survivor who enjoys traveling to new places.
In the Community
Dr. Perry is passionate about caring for others. She volunteers at the Good News clinic, which provides free dental care to the underserved and uninsured residents of Hall County. She also provides free dental care to Orphanage Emmanuel in Honduras. Dr. Perry is a member of the Junior League of Hall County, Treasurer of the North Hall Community Education Foundation and very active in her son’s school.
